Stewarding Wellness in the Workplace
As our built environments continue to evolve, their impact on wellness has remained an important factor in creating meaningful spatial experiences for people. At the heart of such experiences lies our ability to design environments that pay careful attention to our physical and emotional well-being as well as our mental health, the awareness of which has grown significantly over recent years.
The correlation between mental wellness and the workplace is increasingly evident. With the average person spending over 90 percent of their time indoors, the growing prevalence of stress and mental-related disorders affecting one in four people globally confirms an urgency to adjust our paradigm and rethink the spaces we provide and inhabit.
Business owners, users, builders and policy makers are all stakeholders in this human-centric re-evaluation. As architects, we have a leading role in defining a new paradigm: creating truly life-affirming, creativity-provoking, healthy places for people.
So how do we design as stewards of human health?
By being relentless in the pursuit of spaces that heal, inspire and empower. By working with all disciplines and stakeholders to help people reach and exceed their own potential.
